The HERF-1200 is a micro-inverter from Estar Energy (Estar/HERF) designed for solar panels. It's a "4-in-1" micro-inverter, meaning it can connect four solar panels (or modules) across two MPPTs. It converts the direct current (DC) from the panels into alternating current (AC) to enable grid-tie connection.
Specifications
| Feature | Value / explanation |
|---|---|
| Warranty period | 10 years (product warranty) |
| DC / Input (DC side) | • Recommended panel power: approx. 240-420+ W modules per input • MPPT voltage range (operating voltage): 16-48 V • Starting voltage: 22 V • Maximum DC voltage: 60 V • Maximum DC current: 4 × 13 A (distributed over the inputs) |
| Number of MPPT / inputs | 2 MPPTs, 4 DC inputs (so 2 inputs per MPPT) |
| AC / Output (AC side) | • Rated power AC: 1200 VA / 1200 W • Nominal AC voltage: 230 V (common in NL/EU), with AC range 180-270 V • Frequency range: 45-55 Hz around 50 Hz • Maximum AC current: ~ 5.22 A (based on power at 230 V) |
| Efficiency & consumption | • Maximum efficiency: approx. 96.5 % • CEC peak efficiency ~ 99.5% (under certain conditions) • Night consumption / standby consumption: < 0.05 W |
| Protection class & temperature range | • IP67 – Dust and splash/water proof in outdoor conditions • Working temperature: -40 °C to +65 °C |
| Mechanical / dimensions / weight | • Dimensions: approx. 275 × 204.5 × 41.6 mm (width × height × depth) • Weight: ~ 4.9 kg • Cooling: natural convection (no fan) |
| Other functions / communication | • Communication via 2.4 GHz wireless possible; optionally with a data logger (“DCU”) to manage monitoring, limits, etc. • Power factor adjustable (cos φ) ≈ 0.8 (leading or trailing) • Low harmonic distortion (THD <3%) |
Plus points
-
Higher power per unit : The HERF-1200 delivers around 1.2 kW AC, which is relatively high for microinverters — meaning you need fewer units for a given total power.
-
Four solar panels per unit : makes installation more compact/cheaper compared to one inverter per panel, while still benefiting from module-level MPPT.
-
Robust protection (IP67) and wide temperature range ensures reliability in outdoor conditions.
-
Low starting voltage and wide MPPT range means it can deliver power even in less than ideal light conditions/cloud cover.
-
Low night-time consumption minimizes losses when PV panels are not producing power.
-
Flexible installation : modular operation, option to monitor performance via app/data logger.
